How do you get to Pasadena reasonably?
Take the Hollywood Freeway 101 north past Universal and just past that pick up Vineland turning right off the ramp.
One block up at the 76 Station you turn right again and then make an immediate left onto the 134 Freeway.
The 134 cuts up through Glendale and then heads up to Pasadena in the mountains.
No big deal are either as then close by both.

Remember, AAA Auto Club makes the best sense with their "TripTiks" that plan out a trip for mostly free beyond details and detours.
I used one to cross the country by car in 1987 avoiding all manner of construction and plague.
More than maps, flip-type comb binds of maps marked up by them with pens, highlighters.
What? Basically Route #70 across the country - Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Missouri (Gateway Arch!), Kansas (tornadoes are real here!), Colorado (Denver, Vail!), Utah (is hell...)
Then Route #15 from Utah into Las Vegas, Nevada then on to California and Los Angeles.
Four (4) or five (5) days or so comfortably way early Tuesday morning July 5 to late Friday afternoon July 8 non-stop except to sleep it on.

In reverse, our scowls at you we continue now:
